Literacy Matters.....

What’s the deal with your Literacy Advocate section?

You know I’m so glad I decided to add that to the masthead, not just novelist, screenwriter and writing coach – because I have had so many people ask me about it.  It’s a great way to get the word out that World Literacy is not just a developing world concern – it lives right here next door to you.

My feeling is there should be an empathetic link between writers of all ilks and the issue of Literacy. I mean who knows the joy of reading and composition better than a writer!  Wouldn’t you love to be able to share that joy with your kids, or someone else’s kids, or the wonderful dry cleaning lady that always makes sure your shirts are pressed just right?  Literacy and reading comprehension and composition are skills that could change people’s lives for the better. Give then access to better jobs, better pay and allow them to make more considered choices for themselves and their families.
